Retro Rehash was employed with Zoe Jarrett by the Winter Magic Festival to help Organise a Youth Stage and a Mentorship. We were able to work with 3 young Women from 3 different High Schools from the Blue Mountains Local Government Area. That learnt the skills to put on an event . Which resulted in a safe all ages youth stage for Winter Magic.
The Mentorship Consisted of the following:
Site visit and a curation workshop. Where we showed mentees around the Civic centre site and provided them tips and resources for curating the stage.
Stage plot workshop. We taught the mentees how to make stage plots for there bands and to teach other young bands how to make stage plots.
Promotions, social media workshop. Where we taught mentees how to create press releases and social media stratergies.
Runsheet and Backline booking workshop. Where the young people sourced/booked a backline for the stage and how to create a runsheet
Drum workshop at Katoomba Music With Tubby Wadsworth (Zildjian endorsed artist, ex-member of Massapleal and Killing Time). Where they learnt how to setup and tune drum kits.
Preproduction workshop. Where they learnt how to use lighting and sound equipment of the Youth Stage. In which we had an female Head technical operator acting as a role model for female mentees. providing a female role model in male dominated workforce.
A projection mapping workshop and introduction Video mixing (VJ) software
Grant and sponsorship training. In which we were able to raise over $20,000 to run the event and mentorship.
