Occurring around the shortest day and longest night of 2018, the Super Solstice Showdown provided a diverse lineup of eclectic music, complemented by an ultraviolet winter display of light and colour.

Malcura topped the bill as Sydney’s bad boys of flamenco, heating the dance floor to a spicy sizzle away from the chilling June winds. They were supported by the immersive electronica of Sonori, the heavy grunge riffs of Paperhill, and the folk noir of Jep and Dep, featuring Darren Cross (ex-Gerling). Additional music was provided by Jimmi Carr, who performed a solo acoustic set, with Idiot Proof’s DJs serving up some fresh beats.

Striking UV art installations were provided by Marco Grilli, Sophie Miller, and Linda Seiffert, and costumes were encouraged.
