Funktion At The Junction was a dazzling ultraviolet disco celebration like no other. The event took the form of a magical micro-festival, dripping with cosmic soul vibes that shone like mirror balls in the church hall.
Headline act of the night was The Regime, a vibrant groove collective from Sydney’s Inner West, supported by acts such as Katoomba’s jazz-funk heroes, the K-Town Funky Horns, who delivered improvised jams and hosted special guest MC’s. Two younger groups completed the bill; funkadelic rockers Hibiscus Biscuit, and Safire Palms, a psych-soul-groove quartet who released their debut single ‘Jam Sandwich’, created through sponsorship from a mentorship grant
Funktion At The Junction also hosted visual art installations from young progressive professionals Jonas Kim and Villet O Bish, as well as a few stunning pieces from Jules Hiam, whose work has also been exhibited at the Dragon Dreaming and Burning Seed festivals.
