Bringing some playful parody to Aussie pride with a bogan themed event the Bonza Bogan Boogie Down. John Kennedy’s ‘68 Comeback Special were the headlining act for the night, featuring Murray Cook, the original red Wiggle! Feast Of Fools also performed that night, delivering an obscure blend of hyperactive rock that local journalist Corin Shearston once described as sounding like “a cross between Frank Zappa and the Dead Kennedys”.
A soulful piano-based duo named Tribute To Bluey were on the bill as well, alongside the DJ’s from One Source One Team from Radio Blue Mountains 89.1FM, who were fundraising for the radio station that night. Visual art installations were provided by Dagni, Ruby Rain, and Tyson O’Connell, with ripped flanno, mullets, and Ned Kelly bucket heads complementing the alcoholic orders of the day. $3000 was raised for Radio Blue Mountains.
